I have the htc One so Blinkfeed takes care of that for me.
Barely have time for the news anyhow :(

No need to root the phone. Just download a launcher from the play store and it will run over the current launcher that includes blink

Just downloaded Currents again and played around with it a bit longer. Its quite sophisticated but, the fact that you have to "go out" and scroll sideways to different categories and look for stuff kills it, even Pulse is better in that regard. Also, once you're in an article, the article has pages and the scrolling sideways continues. As opposed to BlinkFeed where the titles are all in one place and you just scroll one direction (i.e. down) and click on whatever catches your eye.
Not no mention the integration with social services such as Twitter and Facebook and your phone's calendar.

You're right, it's a matter of taste, but, for a guy like me who won't read any news unless they are "dished out" to me Blink does the perfect job.
(I made a different screen my homescreen).
