Umm, use reliable sites and uploaders and scan for viruses. I've downloaded many TB of torrents and never found a virus.
File size had nothing to do with torrents per se, rather it depends on the encoding, which with torrents you have different options.

Or you can just add 'ss' before the url (example: ssyoutube.com/..../..) and it will forward you to a page where it can be downloaded. Works on both, computer and mobile. It's extremely fast and easy, as has multiple format options.
