4G works when you root? Do you have a lot of apps and still no prob?
Let's see if I get this straight.. ICS might slow it down due to its size but will speed it up because it's ICS regardless of processor?

No 4G. I've got too many apps... I actually use a mod to give me more space for apps

ICS is actually smaller then the stock Evo rom. Now that the ICS alpha builds include GPU support they offload alot of the work to the graphics chip which makes them run even better. Obviously the Evo has an aging CPU and GPU as well as less internal memory then most, but it still runs pretty well.

Settings/privacy /factory data reset but take note you will lose EVERYTHING

By rooting, no. By putting a custom rom on, yes.

Oh man, that will mean 3 months of research... 
Does it depend on how you mainly use your phone?
Is there a comprehensive detailed explanation of the different ROM's anywhere?

Nope, no easy way. It is pretty much personal preference, you really just have to try a bunch of them. Or just use EnergyROM

So let me get this straight: The big hurdle is rooting. Changing ROM's is not the biggest deal, It's kind of like changing "themes"?

From what I can remember rooting is a 1 click process these days. The most inconvenient part for me is backing up and restoring my apps after flashing a different rom, not hard just a pain. Although that is probably because I have > 60 apps.

What's a mod?
I guess I'll try different ROM's before I download all my apps... will that be easier and quicker and less threatening than rooting?

The dearth of quality jewish apps for Android is shocking.
How is it that the Palm OS Luach and Siddur apps from over 10 years ago were light-years more advanced than the Android apps?

For luach you can make a custom Hebrew calendar on hebcal.com, and import into your gmail calendar and sync that with your phone.

Just downloaded siddur from there and there's no menu?
Do they really expect you to keep clicking next though every shacharis section until I get to maariv?

As far as the calendar, I haven't looked at that yet, but I just want what my old Palm luach could do.  Namely show me an english monthly calendar with the hebrew date at the bottom and yom tovs highlighted  that can calculate zmanim accurately (plenty of apps claim to calculate but are NOT accurate) for any coordinates entered.  How is it that nobody can recreate on Android what existed on Palm over 10 years ago??

-Angry Birds/Angry Birds Rio are great timewasters
-Androidlost seems very cool, have played with it a bit and scared my brother when he was playing on my phone with the remote alarm
-Amazon MP3 is great, keep my 20GB of music in the cloud for free and play on demand.
-CRC Kosher
-Foursquare for the occasional promos
-Memo Pad to bring back that good old Palm functionality.
-Flashlight widget is neat
-Skype
-Sleepy Baby (white noise app)
-Super Compaas
-Tehillat Hashem, a siddur of scanned pages.
-Parkmobile, used it in DC to pay for parking by cc
-GrooveIP for using GV without minutes anywhere in the world.
-Chrome beta is just awesome
-Google translate is amazing
-Kosher GPS
-Chase app is life-changing, or at least cut down on trips to the ATM
-SFCave out of Palm nostalgia
-Navigation/Google maps really is life-changing.  Being able to walk around DC and just type in different monuments or just starbucks and getting walking directions was huge.
-SVTP Wifi Hotspot Pro to turn my phone into a wifi router.
-SWYPE is very cool, though at times I think of going back to the very good ICS keyboard.
-United Airlines app is great
-Google Wallet, used it for the free $10, won't use it again until it starts working with Chase or AMEX.  Definitely cool though.
-Words with friends is another decent time-waster.
-Hebrew Calendar for the OK widget.
