Thought it might be an idea to cover any topics that aren't found, or are hard to find, in the Kosher for Pesach books. For example, I have these oil lights from Chanukah which are handy to use all year if you light some oil instead of wax candles. My wife lights two per Shabbos. I was wondering if they can also be used on Pesach and couldn't find it anywhere. I called OU and they say you should NOT use them.
I checked Rabbi Blumenkranz, CRC and StarK, didn't notice the topic. The books do show issues with oils, but none see, to mention the ones you light instead of candles. Or at least I didn't notice it in my old age.
Why not call the Blumenkrantzs? I think there's a phone number somewhere in the book. They're extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
Why? I called OU and they said it's no good.
HUCA?
mutty - my rabbi said you can dip them into bubbling hot water. It's not an issue cause we don't eat out of them.
what do you mean premade?
I thought he was referring to pre made ones???
Same here. I was gonna point out that if that's the case I can't imagine how putting them in boiling water would accomplish anything.
