Sesame Place
« on: June 30, 2008, 05:41:05 PM »
Thinking about going this Sunday with the family. We'd head out early Sunday morning from New York.

Never been there and was wondering if anyone had any thought in general about the park. In addition, if anyone know where I can find a good "metzia" for reduced admission. I did a Google search and most coupon codes I used were expired.

If we wanted to go for shabbos, what are our options?

Tis that time of the year. If anyone wishes to expand on other trips/local parks and the do's and don't, please comment.

Your help is much appreciated.

You mean Sesame Street? No, no, no. That place is fictitious :)

There is a decent Sheraton right across the street. As far as discounts they accept AAA and usually you can get discount coupons through McDonalds. You have a choice between taking the discount or getting a second day free.

I am not sure about cheaper tickets (although there are places to get them) but if you go late enough in the summer (might already be now) and get a season pass then it will work for this year and next.
In the past I have gone in june and bought the regular pass (which is actually for 2 days) and returned a 2nd time in august, converted it to a season pass and got it for the next year as well.  Then you can come back as many times as you want the rest of that summer and next.  If you can go 2+ times a summer that is the best deal you can get.

HI,

how can you convert your two day pass into a season pass? Do they give you a credit?

you just go on the line at the park and ask them to do that and they give you a season pass for the difference in price which isnt too much.

I went today. It was nice, but very crowded with long waits by every ride. I noticed that as the day went on, and people started leaving, the lines were much smaller, and many attractions that previously had long waits now had no line at all. Obviously since it's a kid oriented place, most people (including any of us) would rather get there early and leave at a normal time, but if you are willing to go at 2:00 for example and stay until 8:30, you will accomplish a lot more in a shorter time - especially in the later hours.

BTW, after 3:00, entry is $20 less, and you can really accomplish so much in a short time in the later hours. I would say that each hour after 5 is worth 2 hours earlier in the day.

Once you're coming in from NY to PA maybe spend a day in Philadelphia which is nearby.
Read some Philly trip reports here

Parx Casino is pretty close to Sesame Place but I'm assuming you're gonna be with kids...
