im guessing he is asking for during the week. I would go with the w it has had a ton of great reviews. No reason to spend extra on the ritz. If you have tons of spg go with 20k spg if not use c and p
Hk if your looking for points if your platinum w or Sheraton

If your gold then ritz not that much more points

first of all if you are platinum with spg then you are platinum with ritz. His question was w or ritz he's not inquiring about the Sheraton

Incorrect

Platinum with ritz does yield you a suite

Platinum with w does

My question was twofold. First, I wanted to know the best place to stay for Shabbos. Obviously the Shangri-La is closest, but it's not a point hotel. Second, when I was asking about the W it was for during the week. I've stayed at the Sheraton and the HR TST, and while those are okay I wanted to change it up a bit.

I'm gold with spg/Ritz, so that doesn't mean much.

The reason I was considering the W this time while I wasn't last time is because I will be with my family this time. We are arriving on a Thursday and leaving on Monday, so the third thing that I need to figure out is how to split up the nights. Do I stay at the Shangri-La or IC only Friday night and stay at the W the other three nights?

Finally, I will have a free night at any IHG property which I can use at either IC. The regular IC Hong Kong is more expensive and seems to have nice reviews, but I wouldn't want to to spend 60k for an award night to stay there more than one night.

One of the things that I was considering when trying to choose a hotel was the location. I really love the location of the Sheraton and the HR TST because they are both walkable to the ferry and have MRT stops close by. Obvious benefit of the W is that it is right above the station to the airport.

So to conclude this very long post, I was thinking of Thursday night and Sunday night at the W, Friday night at the Shangri La and Saturday night at the IC. The only problem with that is I'm spending every night in the new hotel.

Ahhhrrrg. This is annoying.

I know that hotel is one of your favorite hotels in the world, but what did you do about the fact that is far from minyan during the week? Did you take a cab or walk? Was that inconvenient?

what time are you getting in on Thursday and what time are you leaving on Sunday. 3 hotels in 4 nights does not make sense. I would leave the w for The end as it is convenient to the airport.

The best thing for you to do is just stay in the Sheraton for the first 3 nights (Especially if you are getting in late on Thursday) and then switch to the w for Sunday night. The walk to kz is very easy from there I did it with a 2 and 3 year old. I don't know how old your kid will be though.

Too much moving

I would suggest intercontinental for drinks
If your adamant about using your night do it
And stay the rest and shangrila or Sheraton

So that's another option. I would stay at the Sheraton for Shabbos, I'm just concerned that my 16 month old won't be able to walk. I stayed there last time I saw this and it was super easy, I know, but it may be too much for a toddler.

In terms of when are flights get in and leave, or landing at 9 o'clock Thursday night and leaving at noon Monday.

I'm not adamant about using it, it's not even the best value compared to other more expensive ICs there. What do most people do when staying at the Shangri La? Pay cash? Book through KZ's TA? The UR CSR portal is an option for ~25k/night.

Yes you will not get to your hotel until midnight so you would be bringing all your stuff to the hotel just to sleep there and then move out the next morning. Either use your free night just to use it and then move to Sheraton or just go straight to the Sheraton. There is definitely no point in going to the w Thursday night. You should be fine with a 16 month old. You are 2 parents hold its hand and you should be fine. You will only have to do it 3 times. (Carry the baby Friday night to Shul) then to experience the w go early on Sunday and get your money's worth there.

Yeah, I'm seeing that W Thursday night is pointless. So you to stay at the Sheraton the whole time over an IC? I didn't find the Sheraton particularly nice. It was quite bland.

For my trip I'm planning, I'm also most likely going to be arriving Thursday and then leaving super late Monday night (really the new 1AM Tuesday flight to TLV), with three kids.  I'll most likely be at the Sheraton, which sounds like its the most convenient for Shabbos and during the week for transportation.  Is the W "so" worth it that it is worth switching hotels?  I don't care that much about decor to switch for that but the reason it did seem worthwhile was that if we had to check out the kids could have fun in the pool in the afternoon.  Also, if you are there in January/Feb. is it too cold to swim? Do they keep it well heated? And then am understanding correctly from the thread that you check your bags at a station directly under the W?  Then you can take a subway to the airport from there or a cab?  Sorry, I've ready through almost this whole master thread but different stuff is running together.

Ha! We're taking the CX flight to HKG (though continuing to DPS) and then stopping in HKG on the way back.

The Sheraton is in a great location for MRT, ferry, shul and restaurant access. It's just not the nicest hotel around; the rooms seem a bit past their prime, though the beds were comfortable and shabbos is a non-issue.

So here's the thing: Jan is colder, like 60s, maybe low 70s. Most places that do pool repairs do them in the winter because most people don't want to swim outside then. I don't know if the W is worth it but last time when I was there solo I skipped it. This time I'd like to try it for 1 night. You're correct about the checkin. The airlines have checkin counters at Kowloon station (below the W) to check your bags in. You then take the MRT straight to the airport (with just a couple of stops). It's super convenient and quick. You don't have to stay at the W to check in at Kowloon station though (and FWIW you can check in at Hong Kong station on HKI, too).

Why update the wiki now? Just noticed it was out of date?

I didn't check in in the city because I wanted to check in at the CX F desk at HKG. Also I didn't have checked bags. This time may be different since we'll have a checked bag and won't be flying CX F (KE F doens't have a big F setup at HKG).
