Dental Tourism
« on: July 10, 2013, 03:31:19 PM »
Anyone had any experience having dental work done in Mexico?

http://sanidentalgroup.com/

This group seems to have a great rep and it is a lot (!) cheaper than in the US.

Any comment?

U.S
Texas women who go to Mexico for cheap plastic surgery say they returned disfigured and near death
The two women had recently lost a lot of weight and decided to go under the knife at the Jerusalem Hospital in Tijuana to remove the excess skin. The $5,000 procedures were anything but a bargain.

How in the world do you compare plastic surgery with dental treatment. Plastic surgery is a serious operation everywhere.

In any event, treatment in Israel is much cheaper AFAIK, CMIIW.

While mostly true, a dentist can hit or damage a nerve causing more serious problems and can even cause loss of muscle control on the side of a face. You can get excellent dentists in israel and a lot of them are american trained and very cheap

I had a hard time believing it but hey, you do what you gotta do...
What is the savings for you that you are thinking of doing it?

I know my mother once went to Israel for a root canal. Came out cheaper even while taking the flight into account.

This clinic is approved by the ada (American dental association) and gas a very good reputation. On the other hand...

My grandmother had some dental work done in Israel because it was so cheap. She did it on a visit to my aunt and uncle, who are both in the field (dental technician and assistant or something like that) so they were able to make sure she was taken care of properly.

Some Israeli dentists I've been too are way more advanced than ones I've been to in the states.

I have had a dentist in Panama do work on my teeth here is my experience....

Was visiting my wife's family in Panama for 12 days on day 10 I decided to go to the dentist with my wife as her mother was ranting and raving that she has a great dentist and he is super cheap so what the hell we were bored and went in for a cleaning. Needless to say the office was immaculate he squeezed us in and was super nice. We  both went in for a cleaning and left with multiple cavity fillings.  Wife had about 2-3, I had 13! He determined I needed to have my filings put in without taking an xray, his claim that it took too long to process and he didn't have the time to wait.

Price was he was really inexpensive $55 for a cleaning, and $55-60 per filling.

When I got back to the states a year later I had a pain in my tooth so I went to a local dentist that took xrays and asked me who has done my work previously... I swallowed and said to myself oh crap... now what?!?!?

I answered and said some dentists in Panama did 13 fillings... blah blah blah i told him the story. He turned around and said: Thats a D-A-M good dentists your fillings are near perfect, and without an xray impressive.

All in all great experience.
Palm5 says: Uhhhh what's blackberry?

philbenjoe says: A handheld celluar device. What's your question

I'm not convinced you needed all those fillings - despite the good work.

The magazines on the airplanes say that Costa Rica is the best place for dental tourism.
I heard from a shochet who goes down there regularly to shecht that he meets a lot of American yiddelech down there who come in for dental work.
