I used to go downtown as well, but didn't like the bumper to bumper traffic, that's when i discovered the brooklyn one, much more spacious, although the downtown one has - no doubt - more selection.
So check out the one in Queens, more selection and more space!  Pretty neat store, relative to most other places in NYC...

don't have a car, so the brooklyn one makes more sense with the subway.

The one in Brooklyn is not so bad. The men's suit section is actually very neat.

what do you guys think of the quality of Ralph Lauren?

They have different lines.  Their two highest ones are Purple Label and Black Label.  Great quality but expensive.

the problem is that the bigger sizes aren't usually in stock by all the deals (eg:50 jacket/44 pants)

Is that supposed to be cheap?! ::)
Hat box has always been gimmicky and not low-priced.

Not cheap but not expensive.
And very convenient didn't have to leave crown height.

off 5th cracks me up. Unless you get a really brand name ie zenga etc they'll sell you a Calvin Klein suit for 400 (that's with 40% off) where in any corner store they will give the same suit for 180! Point is be careful in off 5th, because it's "saks" doesn't mean it's a good deal/suit
