Hi,

We're flying to New York from Tel Aviv tonight and we just noticed the israeli passport for one child is expired and the other child's passport will expire during our trip. We have both American and Isaeli passports. The American ones are all good and updated. We haven't flown since we got married (we now have three kids) so we totally forgot about the israeli passports.

Please advise - has anyone ever been in this situation?

MIsrad Hapanim never answer their phones...

Can't you just use the American passports? Have you used them in the past? Did they tell you anything?

Using the A. PP will just ring up on their computers that we have I. PP and they will ask to see it because in Israel if you have an I PP then you must use it to leave/enter.

They wont allow you to use your American passport??

Honestly, this is Israel... one rep gives one "rule" and the other gives another.

so use your American one, i know many people who have done so (and im sure you can "huca" till you find someone that is sympathetic) worst case is you show the guy your Israeli passports that expired, and tell them the truth

Got through to misrad hapanim, they said there's nothing we can do except renew it at the airport for twice as much it will be to renew a reg passport.

We can try to use our A PP however they will just send us to misrap hapanim. THey won't except the expired passports.

In this case it's only CA.

We're going to try to go to misrad hapanim in maale adumim. We were told it's better there. We'll try our luck...

Thanks for all your responses.. Here's the update:

We went to misrad hapanim in maale adumim and they gave us a signed note saying that we should be able to use our American Passports to come and go and as soon as we get back we should renew the I PPs.

It costed NOTHING - we didn't even need updated photos.

We just saved 1100 shekels (that's how much it costs at the airport misrad hapanim.)

I don't think it's such an Israeli thing. Whrnever one has dual citizenship he must leave and enter with the passport of that country.
