Blackberry In Israel

Anyone know what are the options for a blackberry in Israel. What are the plans? Which carrier?
I am talking about permanent monthly service.

I think Talk n Save does it, if that's what you mean, but they're fairly pricey.

I'm going to Israel tonight. Verizon says that as of January, they no longer offer an unlimited data plan for Israel, they now charge $20.xx per mb ( I average 55mb per month, thats $1100). Anyone have any ideas, I don't feel like renting or getting another bb.

If you have anyone in the U.K., you could ask them to get hold of an o2 (brand) sim card which gives you 10MB a day of international data roaming for £5/month.

Although, if you're leaving tonight, you might be better off looking for something there.

Thanks, but I prefer to keep my vzw telephone number, so I don't think that I can change the sim. Is that correct?

Yes, I use my vzw phone a bit while in Israel. If I shut off data on my phone is there a way to get/ send emails when I'm in a wifi area?

Yes. If you set "Data - while roaming" to "off", you could still use your wifi no problem...

depends how long you are goona be in israel.

if you are planning on staying for a long period of time the best option is to go through a local carrier (they all charge about the same, 120nis just for the BB plan, not including calling and texting) however you will need a local number.

That's not a bad deal at all. Here in the US it's hard to find (legit) BB-only plans with the big 4 for that kind of money.

Just to clarify , I have a voice plan with them too!

FYI - there are no more contracts in Israel on cell phones. U can open a line use it and pay for the month and cancel for free

in any case you will need their sim card so you will need a voice plan as well

The info above is incorrect. Cellcom's BB plan is 75 shek for 500MB of data, not unlimited. Not many people will use more than 500MB per month unless they are tethering.

I have a cellcom blackberry on a chayal plan (which is hard to get now - they are asking for ID) that I am about to cancel. If anyone has a massive need for it you can PM me.
