What's with the price of tickets lately?

I'm trying to get someone a ticket from IAD to PIT and price is $500 OW in June the day I need (4 united flights)

then trying to get from PIT to NYC also in June and price is $300...

is it too early to book? I've never paid more than 100 for the NYC one...

Prices have gone up. Also jet blue doesn't fly there anymore
