brooks brothers
« on: March 12, 2013, 10:48:52 PM »
I bought some brooks brother wrinkle free shirts a year ago for Shabbos. the corners of the collars started shriveling, will I have any luck taking it up with them?
how do I go about?

Shouldn't be a problem.

How long of a life do you expect for a cotton shirt?
Get same with other brands, fancy shabbos shirts.

Let us know how it goes, after a year and a half the collars are fraying. It would be cool if they cared about wear and tear...

+1 Though usually you'd need to take the shirt in and they would have no trouble switching it for you I'd still call if you feel like the shirts should have held up better.

no store I know cares about what happens after using ONE year. clothing are meant to get worn out after being used. (and it is a chilul hashem IMO).

even major appliances get only ONE year warranty.

Tell cc company you enjoyed clothing for a year, went thru washer dryer and now after you used it up you want a new one at no cost.

or tell your restaurant you finished the dinner, and since nothing left you want a no cost replacement...

Arent there some limits?

I don't agree at all.  If he only has two white shirts, and this one got washed 100 times in the past year, I agree with you -- he's gotten his money's worth.  But if he has a number of shirts, and these have worn quicker than others through ordinary use over a year -- I agree 100% that there is a product issue, and a store like BB should definitely care.

-1 There are certain articles of clothing that while perhaps cost more, are also meant to last you plenty of years if taken care of accordingly.

It all depends how well things are made. Obviously nothing lasts forever. But certain companies make things that come close.

would love to read an article doing scientific data of how long what brand would last, if there is one.

My very good and popular brand, looks great, great quality, but they just do not last, unless you buy a mix and not 100% cotton.

Store would tell me in advance: if you want it to last, buy the mix.

You have the option.

Do you think just because an appliance only has a one year warranty that its only supposed to last that long?

If an appliance I bought and spent good money on broke just after a year I would not be too happy.
