Aegean Airlines is joining *A which is great because it provides another way to redeem miles on *A to fly to the Holy Land. They also fly to the Greek Islands which until now could not be reached using miles.

In the above article it mentions a "white spot strategy". *A filling in areas of the globe underserved by member carriers. Anyone want to send them a letter mentioning Bora Bora?

Aegean Airlines is great and the frequent flyer program not bad at all. I have gold status without ever flying.

I reached quicky their gold elite level by crediting a few LH flights.
LH is a full partner of their FF program : Miles&Bonus. It is possible to earn and redeem for flights in LH ( and from now on Star Alliance).

Wow do they have interesting quirks!
I bet much will change once they join *A.

Do you know how bad their fuel surcharge is?

Currently only 4,000 (!) miles are needed to reach "Blue" (*S?) and only 16,000 more miles within a year of reaching Blue to get top-tier Gold (*G?).

And they have cheap redemption options, international flights are just 11,000 miles in coach one-way.
Intercontinental LH flights in coach are just 30,000 miles one-way (50K in J, 75K in F)

No. You need to call to redeem for flights, and that makes difficult to know about fuel surcharges.

I got 1000 bonus miles for joining, not sure if the promo is still available.

Israel is part of Europe/North Africa, so it's just 60K/90K/120K in Y/J/F between the US and TLV!

Now we just need to know if/what kind of fuel surcharges they have have on award tickets and if they charge a fuel surcharge on partner travel.
