Nice, but we didn't get there.  We enjoyed them in the DAA Lounge, though. :)
Love the Haskama!

I'm not sure if/when I'll get around to a full TR, so let me add a few bits of info that may be helpful to other.

We used the "left luggage" office at DUB. It's located in T1, which is not where EI and most international flights depart/arrive. But T1 and T2 are only 5 minutes walk apart.  The Greencaps are the company that does the left luggage. Not cheap, 8Euro/bag per 24h. But having to roll our carryon bags all day would have been a nonstarter.

We rode AirportExpress bus #757 to and from the city. Very convenient, stops only a few blocks from the Bretzel bakery (at the line's terminus) and also stops near Trinity College and Temple Bar areas.  It was a great deal for us: They have a special 1916-2016 centennial (Easter uprising) special for famlies: 10Euro for the whole family for a 24h ride to/from airoprt.  10E total!

We enjoyed the bakery. I would say it's worth the effort to go.  Nice artisan breads and scones.  Store staff very clear about what is and what is not kosher.

We visited the irish jewish msueaum  free. Worth 45minutes to see and learn.

Nice quick report! Great deal on the bus. I didn't know about the bakery. Is that new?

The bakery is actually very old, dating at least to pre WW2. In the museum , there is a photograph of the Jewish neighborhood that shows the bakery with a sign designating it as kosher. So, at one time, it was fully kosher. Now, only certain items.

Cool - just came across a Jewish community in Northern Ireland in Belfast! Unfortunately, I found them because their cemetery was vandalized last year. However, I had a small conversation with them and learned that they have a Shul and Minyan on Shabbos morning (and Thursday mornings), and get food shipped in from Manchester. I introduced them to this thread, so perhaps they will join and help people with planning.

So I have an 8-hour layover in DUB, so let's say 5 hours to do stuff.

It seems that the hop-on-hop-off bus is probably the best thing to do, especially considering that I don't drink.

Any other suggestions?

ETA: Apparently Malahide is a pretty little town near the airport which is supposedly worth a visit. A car for the day isn't that expensive, so that may be an option.

Would you still enjoy the Jameson/Guinness tours even if you won't drink at the end?
I've read that Trinity college / grounds are nice to walk through plus their library is a famous place to take pictures of. Also seen that a car ride/train out to Howth is a worthwhile nearby coastal area to see (think there's a castle there too). I feel like you might be the type who'd enjoy Kilmainham Gaol (old prison).

Kilmainham Gaol is great if you're a history buff but you usually have to reserve your tickets online in advance. The only way to get in is with a tour so you have to select what time works for you. Personally thought the Guinness tour was underwhelming. You don't get to see the brewery. It's more of a brand experience. Jameson was being renovated when I went so can't speak to that. Trinity College is pretty beautiful so I definitely echo that but if you have enough time to rent a car I would say driving out to the countryside is absolutely worth the trip. If you're worried about time the 10 Euro Hop on/Hop off tour is a lot of fun. Don't feel like you have to get the more expensive one. They are all pretty much the same.

Anywhere in the countryside in particular (not too far from DUB) you'd recommend?

I didn't go myself but Malahide Castle followed by Howth looks beautiful. I had a week so we went pretty far out. Driving on the left really isn't that difficult but you will want to make sure your GPS works because it can get confusing with the roundabouts. Also, if you drive Manual you will save a lot of money but if not, you will want to make a reservation because they do not have that many Automatic cars. Driving/Parking in Dublin is a hassle so considering you only have 5 hours I would pick either renting a car or going into Dublin city center.
