On a United award flight in coach, is there any way to get free baggage since I have the United Explorer card?

I believe it used to work for American but I am not sure if that changes with the merger

I just had my credit card linked to my United account, but I am still not getting expanded awards. How long do I need to wait for the expanded awards to show up?
