We got the Chase United card in October and I just opened a Macys card like a couple weeks ago. Will that affect my card approval? My FICO score is 756 at the moment. What do u think?
If you want try you wont know. first apply for the BA and then try the rest.

So the advantage of the BA card is that the (50k promo now) Avios transfer to UA 1:1 and instantaneously?

I have an international flight booked with United.  The economy seats  available for my family are scattered throughout. There are empty seats together in the economy plus section.

Is it likely that prior to boarding they would allow my family to sit together in the economy plus section without paying to upgrade?

No.

"Transferring points:
Chase Ultimate Rewards points can be transferred instantly at a 1:1 ratio into BA Avios from the Chase Sapphire Preferred and  Chase Ink Plus credit cards..."

So I had it backwards and wrong card?

Oh, I see. But now I'm confused as to the advantage of getting this card to assist in helping me accrue points for my United MileagePlus account. Is the advantage completely about accruing Avios points for the trip instead?

Ah, it's (slowly) coming together now. Should ditch using the United MileagePlus card and try to use the BA card instead? My main goal for now is to accrue points for PIT-LAX flights as cheaply/easily as possible.

Pretty weak availability NYC-LAX in J over the next few months. Is that normal?

Yeah I just checked, I don't remember ever being like that, and there is still a nice amount of seats available on those flights.
