SQ is not a bad place to hold miles....Hawaii.....great cancellation policy.....among others

Where is better to keep miles SQ or Aeroplan for UA flights?.

Depends what you're going to use them for. For example: for USA-TLV, USA-USA, and USA-Hawaii, SQ is better.

Aeroplan is instant from MR, no need to keep them there speculatively.
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

Iinm Singapore has a better cancelation/change policy on the other hand you have to putpac to book with Singapore but you don't with aeroplan.

So the only down side of keeping points in SQ is that you cannot keep it alive after 2 years?.

I don't think that helps. Points expire after 18 months of no activity and 3 years regardless of activity.
