Was speaking with someone and they mentioned a way to fly from NYC to lax for like 20k total. I don't remember the details anyone know any details? Thanks in advance!
You can fly NYC-LAX in J for 20k SQ. No tricks needed.

Once I've booked, is there a way to get notified when more seats open up, so I can theoretically choose better seats than those that were available when I booked?

trying to price an award ticket on UA.com

JFK - LAX in business, then LAX - SFO in economy. 45 min layover between the flights, but the system prices it at 35K miles instead of usual 25K? it seems it is adding the mileage requirement for the individual legs instead of pricing it as one JFK to SFO award.

is this because i'm using different cabins?

Am I missing something?
Why shouldn't it be 35k?

Yes.
Because it should be 25k.

Could be the cabins and the second leg is being priced as its own 10k award. May have to PUTPAC.

indeed seems to be the case that they are pricing the award as the 25K for JFK-LAX in biz + the 10K for LAX - SFO in coach.
other concern is that, i tried to have the award booked with Lufthansa miles, and they did the same thing, priced the award at 29K, instead of the 17K for a domestic Biz ticket.

Did it come up with that route or you used multi-destination?

I used multi destination when searching last night, because if i searched JFK to SFO, it didnt give this option.  This morning, when i did i search again for JFK-SFO, it did bring this option up with 25K and a multi-cabin designation, even though multi-destination still showed it at 35K pp.

The really odd part is that i preferred to book it with Lufthansa miles (for obvious reasons), and last night their system was pricing it at 29K miles (so charging for the 2 segments separately), but this morning, once the routing showed up directly on UA.com, they priced it for 17K as it should (even though i had to feed them the individual segments as they couldn't pull the seat doing a JFK-SFO search, i guess because it was 2 cabins).

They were blocking those segments from being married when you searched yesterday.
Not really any rhyme or reason, but it's been getting worse.  There's a DDMS post on it.
