I am considering booking 6 one way awards (40K) from EWR-LAX-MEL late summer with United. What are my upgrade options/possibilities for the LAX-MEL flight? I have the united cc ( have not spent 25K yet). My goal is to fly economy plus. Not really understanding much from the website. If I reach my 25K in spending before the flight, does that help me in any way?
25k spending is just a PQD waiver so if you are gonna be a united elite(silver, gold, etc...) because you have flown enough miles(25k for silver, 50k gold, etc...)you can get complimentary economy plus from checkin time which is 24 hrs before departure.

You need a card for an upgrade on an award ticket.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

You need a card for an upgrade on an award ticket.
You need to be a premier member, which includes being a card member, elite status.
So, if no status then yes you need card, but not a requirement, for some reason that was what I understood.

When booking from a 1k account to a third party with no status, do they get the same baggage allowance like a premier?
The ticket says so (2 X 50lbs in Y) buy I wander if Turkish/Swiss/Lufthansa will honor it.
Anyone with similar experience?

You automatically get *A Gold status with a platinum or higher UA acct.

Which will give you extra baggage allowance (as well as lounge access) on any *A carrier.

Thank you very much for answering.

How can I pursue the lounge access? Will it automatically pring along with the boarding pass?
I had no idea this can be done! Having a few hours in the airport with little kids sounds much more relaxing now...
Thanks!

It should automatically be in the system, just mention to them that you are *A gold member,  and you should be good to go.

Anyone have experience with UA waving a close-in fee for a funeral?  Is it worth a call to try?
