its good depending on the cash price of the tickets.

also get the close in fee waived

$1008
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

$1008

RT? you found saver both ways?

Assuming yes to both its 90k RT for the united flight which if you value united miles at 1.3(for arguments sake) thats $1170 before fees.

Is this good? Sorry, but I'm not very experienced...

My goal is cheap, not perks so I don't care about class type

Assuming it's not XN.
It should have the new "available to you as a chase card holder" underneath if it is.

Trying to change an award flight online. Expanded availability is showing up in a regular search, but not during the change process. Normal and PUTPAC, or is there a way to do it online?

Normal. Might have to HUCA to get a phone agent to do it.

2 United segments. One has 10 J seats open in the seatmap and says that 9 are available for a paid upgrade, and the other is showing 4 open but says upgrades are "waitlist only".

Does that mean that a CPU for the second leg won't automatically clear T-72 and I'll need to play the airport lotto?

Looks like I was correct. T-72, one segment is confirmed in J and the other is in waitlist.

Looking into booking NYC => IAD => JNB. Online it's pricing it up as two separate award tickets, so 25K/50K econ/first + 40K/80K econ/biz. Anyway to combine them into one booking so that I don't have to pay the extra miles for the NYC=>IAD leg?

If United doesnt come up with the routing on its own you will pay separate. Been that way since the "excursionist perk" switch.
