Looking into booking NYC => IAD => JNB. Online it's pricing it up as two separate award tickets, so 25K/50K econ/first + 40K/80K econ/biz. Anyway to combine them into one booking so that I don't have to pay the extra miles for the NYC=>IAD leg?

I'd PUTPAC, I've booked that exact flight for 40k in y.

How long ago - before or after their new system?

Was a while ago. I wasn't aware that there were changes made (unless you are referring to today's changes, which I didn't think were in effect yet)

October 6th changes last year, seems like it's applicable but not sure - http://pointmetotheplane.boardingarea.com/2016/12/17/full-guide-tricking-uniteds-new-excursionist-perk-routing-rules-negative-changes/

You're in IAD for longer than 24 hours?
Nope. But it's not pricing it up with stopover in IAD within one award flight. I think it's because there's no biz saver award on the NYC=>IAD leg.

Changes from Australia to Asia are worse, IINM.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Yep, 40k in F is an amazing redemption.

Can an RPU be applied to a booking made via amex bp? My confirmation # has a letter in it and apparently to apply the rpu to my booking the system requires a 6 digit numeric confirmation.

Don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to.

Can someone help me with this.
I just want to get an idea how this works. If I'm flying out of TLV using United and eventually going to EWR. How/ Can I take advantage of United free stopover policy to stop somewhere is Asia or Australia for free - Just using a total of 80,000 points - the amount it takes to fly roundtrip TLV - EWR.

Uh that trick has been dead for a year, now you just get excursionist perk which doesn't work on a OW

I am having the same issue. Tried logging out and back in and still nothing  even though it is showing other flights that are available as a chase card member
