Is there any way for me to transfer United miles to a friend's United mile account?(Via UR or any program that transfers and add an au if that helps?)

    A friend of mine has gold stats with United which would get him an extra baggage as well as a free upgrade in economy, I know for the free upgrade a companion is eligible to be upgraded as well now my question is can he book the ticket for me and book a ticket for himself and cancel his own ticket within 24 hours of the flight or rather within 24 hours of the booking thereby having myself a confirmed upgraded seat and extra baggage if that's applicable while he cancels his ticket and I take his benefits?

It works but sometimes they catch it and they'll remove you from Economy Plus.

My brother did this last month, his brother in law has status, they did this and he was upgraded , not sure if it always works .

I guess to know what transfers work and what not I would have to try each possible combination,or will I get my accounts messed over trying things which are not allowed?

They don't charge for a cancellation. It does not matter how close to the flight it is.

It says: free cancellation within 24 hours of booking - as long as the flight is a week away.
Are you saying that in actuality an award flight can be cancelled up until flight time and everyting will be refunded and redeposited?

No, you can transfer UR to UR and then into their UA account.

Transferring UR-UR does not do anything with AU or using up transfers.

Correct.

On the Ultimate Rewards page, there’s a spot to “transfer to household member”, you put in their card number and last name, and transfer as many points as you want (name/address/location does not matter).

When you’re done, make sure to unlink their card otherwise they won’t be able to receive from anyone else.

This is considered a “safe way” that brokers buy UR points.

I don't think this is the worst case scenario for having an elite status member "abuse his benefits".

Also need it to be someone that doesn't mind a possible warning letter (or worse?) from United if they catch on to what you're trying to do.

Why can't I play a real life scenario where you were supposed to come with me to New York and for whatever reason you couldn't make it now that's part of having the 24-hour cancellation which allows you to cancel your ticket that doesn't mean you have to cancel my ticket also.
   The only reason I can think of that would raise red flags if every time he books a companion he cancels his own ticket.

Do you know offhand how many companions a premier 1K member can bring along with him and get them all upgrades and extra baggage?
