just curious 7 people in business or 7 people on the whole plane
Did you read his post? He clearly wrote 7 people in Business.
Flights from Isreal to NY never have only 7 passengers.

7 in business and maybe 20 in the back.
It was the day flight back on Wednesday last week.

I have a UA booking from TLV - EWR and a separate booking on AC from EWR - YUL, is there any way I can avoid having to claim luggage in EWR?
TIA!

No, even if it was one booking you would need to claim your luggage.
