Got a rep to marry 2 segs that have award space individually but not when married.
What a PITA though.

On a domestic ticket for a connection has to be less than 4 hours. So why does united price out award tickets with a 5 hour connection as valid?  ??? ???

Oh crazy united

Yeah I just checked, I don't remember ever being like that, and there is still a nice amount of seats available on those flights.
It's been like this since September or so. they open up a day or two in advance, but used to be UA was wide open and AA was hard to get, now AA is slightly easier, and they have a bunch of different levels, not just 25 and 50

Trying to book award flight ORD>TLV then TLV> stopover in ORD for a few months> MIA.  Having trouble trying to do it via UAL.com.  Do I need to call in to do a stopover?

If you have seats on hold and release them, do they go back into inventory immediately?
Do they return to their original fare class?

YMMV
Seats just returned to inventory at the same level. I guess it's not even worth the data point if it's normally YMMV.

It's a total crapshoot. Data points are worthless, trust me.

A route I'm looking at has spotty availability from now till mid-May. From mid-May to mid-August, there is 0 availability - not even Standard. Does that mean it's silly to check everyday hoping for something to open? Does it make more sense to just wait until closer to the summer when they may release seats that didn't sell?

Do I need to pay taxes on my award flight with my Chase United MileagePlus Explorer card in order to get a free bag?
