Checked bag is a suitcase that gos under the plane. Not a carry on.
SQ is worth more than UA. Might not be a smart move

I have a united CC.
Forgive my ignorance but united's MPE gives you a "First Checked Bag Free" isn't a checked bag a bag you take up on the plane??
A checked bag is a bag that you check- as in give to them at check-in and get back after the flight (not a carry-on)

I'm thinking of using it for economy.
You ask why?
1) It's Amex points (much easier to accumulate then my precious UA points)
2) $20 change fee as opposed to United $75
Please correct me if I'm wrong in my calculation.
Tia both of you!

You don't agree with coralsnake?
Amex is worth way less than chase.
Therefore Sq less than Ua.
No?

IME it go's off the FFN # linked to the reservation. At least thats what the desk agents said. You can give them ur FFN # and they see if a CC is linked to it/eligible for a checked bag

I disagree... you can get multiple ink cards (maybe recently with Chase cracking down its indeed harder)... But with Amex you have to find an app with no language to get the same card...

You don't 150k's with chase (equivalence of 3 inks!)

Primary Cardmembers who are already exempt from checked baggage service charges will not receive additional free checked bags.
Premier members:
Club or Presidential Plus Card members who receive two or more free checked bags through their Premier status will not receive additional free checked bags.
Explorer Card members and Cardmembers with certain other MileagePlus Chase Credit Cards will not receive a free checked bag in addition to the free checked bag(s) awarded through their Premier status.

Offer subject to change without notice. Other restrictions may apply.

copy pasted from United's site. Doesnt say anywhere that it must be booked with United. From these terms it seems that as long as the FFN & taxes are paid with the CC & entered on the reservation you can get a checked bag. If someone actually flew using LH or SQ miles & got a free bag please advise.

When booking through SQ/LH, UA can not see what cc you used.

How about if someone flew using LH, paid with UA CC, put in UA FFN and DIDN'T get a free bag?

Well, that was me.

Is a 1-hr layover in IST enough time with 2 adults/2 kids (TLV-IST-FRA)?  I assume bags will go all the way through to final destination, so it's just about getting from one gate to the next?
