It's a UA flight. So when I call up reservations, I tell them I want to do Plan B and ask to put it on fare lock? How long can I hold it for?
Also, if I'm flying with a lap child (domestic), do I tell them that when I'm booking or just add my kid when I check in at the airport?

Fare lock is up to 7 days, and there is a small charge, I think plan b would only work after it is ticketed.

not sure if this has been addressed upthread or in some other thread but can't find it on search...
I have a mileage Y class ticket EWR-TLV, and would be happy to pay money and or miles to upgrade, however there is no I class availability (there is some J), what possible options/experiences are possibly open to me? Thanks!

On the award availability calendar, why does it sometimes have a certain date in green but when you click on it, there isn't any First Saver Award availability? Isn't green supposed to mean that there is economy and premium saver availability?

Nowadays it just means there is economy and premium seats available and Saver though not necessarily on both options

also I find that there is no way to differentiate in colors to whether the flight is non stop or a stop over flight

That has nothing to do with the new site, even the old site didn't use different colors for that.

And I've had green, when there wasn't saver open on all options.

I'm sure it's been asked but didin't find the answer:

I want to fly LH F with UA miles and right now only J is open. If I book in J and then F opens can I upgrade by adding the extra miles or do I also have to pay the change fee?
Thanks

Costs a change fee.
