LOL, you are good! You know the right words. Yes I got them to do it in the old system. (I did not know that this is what I have to convince them, to play with old system, but the agent which finally did it for me explained me everything..)  But it was not the .com desk though.

Did it in the past with them?
Yes.
Which desk did you call? GS? What did she say exactly?

I had LAX-SYD issued for next week. I called and started by asking if she sees availability EWR-LAX so she said yes (you have to start this way, if you give them first the other PNR they wont see the other leg available anymore) now tha she knows there are 4 seats for award I gave here the other PNR and I told here "the 4 seats you saw before to LAX I need to connect to this PNR" so I hear how she is typing and talking to her self "oh, this new system its not coming up here, let me open a new screen" and after 3 minutes it was sold in. But this is not done, the hard part is to get it reissued since we are in the other system but she worked on it and after 5 minutes all was good.

FWIU its easier to change existing itineraries in terms of piecing together an Itin then to book a new one.

When searching on United website for  award flights when I chose nonstop and business options it would display with dotted lines only the dates with saver nonstop J.  Since last week when I choose these options it no longer restricts it to J nonstop but rather displays all days with either saver economy of business;  has united change anything recently or can I do anything different to restrict the search to Saver nonstop J flight?

Restrict the search to nonstop and the calendar should show all days with saver award space.

Very buggy feature. Hasn't been working for me recently either.

Any tips or tricks for booking a RT with a stopover on the site?

I just tried JFK-TLV on one day, TLV-VIE on ~10 days later, and VIE-JFK another 4 days after that. I expected to see a total of 85k, which is the price of a RT saver award JFK-TLV. Instead I got 97k. Each segment said saver award.

So I guess I'm violating #2? Because TLV-VIE is between 2 regions?

Are there any other programs where this might be a viable stopover?

AC, NH, or SQ, but you'll pay YQ.

AC, NH, or SQ, but you'll pay YQ.
AC has tons of partners without YQ, and for only 80k RT in Y (with a free stopover available both ways) it's a great option.

If flying on OS metal (or some other carriers) there will be high YQ. Find a date with LX availability (or another 1 stop option) to keep cost down.

Play around with dates online to see what's available and accurate costing.

Thanks for the info guys.

I can see what you're saying with AC. The TLV-GVA/ZRH and GVA/ZRH segments are available nonstop on LX. But the JFK-TLV only shows LH (or multi stop) options. So even though it's pricing out to 80k like you said, I'm having trouble avoiding the YQ on the way there - total fees end up ~$500. I guess I'll keep this option in mind going forward, check on availability every so often.

What about EWR-TLV? There might be a UA direct flight (or at least something with UA for the trans-Atlantic flight).

If doing out of EWR and into JFK, you won't be able to search it as a multi-city online (or book online for that matter). But if it's available when you search it individually you can call in to confirm pricing and book.

For Aeroplan, continue discussion or questions here.

Random dates I searched is $150 USD (200 CAD).

Got an offer in mail to purchase Silver Status for $349 for 2017; worth it? Currently have Club Card so baggage not an issue, but I get 7x mileage bonus which I'll easily hit as I lay out more than $2,500 annually on United tickets.

So when United rolls out basic economy will it have any effect on miles/point tickets?  In other words when booking economy saver award tickets with united miles or for example M&M miles will we get regular or basic economy tickets?

How come when checking united flight status by upgrades, it shoes like 2 people already upgraded with a check on the side for a flight which is in like 36 hours from now. Isn't this list for the battlefield?
