In a mixed cabin award booking where the international legs are in J and the final domestic leg in Y, do you ever get a chance to change the last leg to J if there are open seats at check-in? Are you a displaced J passenger?
Yes, this is Plan B like situation.

Thanks. So where do you ask for priority? At the final gate? Routing is FRA-ORD-EWR or FRA-MCO-EWR.

Call UA to be waitlisted and ask at checkin, club, gate.

I booked for my son a UA mileage ticket and paid the taxes with my united card. I want to now book the same flight for myself using SQ miles. Will we be entitled to a free checked bag?

No direct aisle, but people say the seat is very comfortable. Cabin is as ugly as they come FWIW.
