Looks like GS forced T and PZ class awarda don't have the close-in surcharge if XN/IN aren't available.

I do not have any United status.  What's the chance that I will be able to upgrade a revenue Y ticket to J for LAX-BOS on a mid-week red-eye?  I'm presuming it's near zero.  :'(

Does United let you cancel an award ticket (for travel partner) within 24 hours of booking if flight is less then 7 days out?
