If it's Turkish between JFK & IST, its better than United anyway.
why is a stop over in istanbul  from JFK to tel aviv better than non stop from newark to tel aviv :o

I saw they have over 20-30 seats open, so I requested it for the 4 of us, and they said no.
They waitlisted us in biz, but only 4 seats are currently available, and the flight is in almost a month, so they probably won't clear.
But I'll ask again at the gate.

I booked a flight for mom INLAW coach ATH JFK via. GVA . Too coach and check each day for Biz to
Open . How did you get waitlisted ?

Didn't know where to put this so stuck it here.

I booked a last minute ticket for someone with 10k Saver.

When I confirmed his seat he was in 4d (EP) without me paying for it and it wasn't an elites account.

There were no regular economy seats left. Is that normal OR a UA glitch.

Well if there was no other economy where did you expect them to put him?:)

Airlines will almost always sell you a ticket. Overbooking is how they make money stay in business.

I read too quickly, missed the award part.

In any event, the same logic would work for an award ticket, though admittedly I'd imagine its rarer.

E.g. if a flight has a 100 seats, and 100 seats are sold, odds dictate someone (or someones) will not show up. Being able to remove some miles from their balance sheet by way of booking someone in Y on an award serves the same purpose.

Repost!! (No, I'm not J... but it still annoys)

EWR-TLV can be a tough route for award availability, best way is to check a few times a day.

Krisflyer or any partner can only book whatever United has available in saver.

Book the economy and you can upgrade closer in if J opens up for a small fee  if within 21 days . That's if you want to be sure you have a reservation . That's what I did   GL

On partners if J opens up. After u see it available you have to call to change and pay difference in points, plus change fees unless u have status

not sure why you changed your mind. ???  Here is the official united policy

Changing the cabin, award type, or changing a flight to a different airline, regardless of departure date(3)   $75

This is pretty clear 75 dollars Regardless of departure date so if you change airlines like I pointed out from Turkish airlines to United within or outside 21 days you get charged.  Now if Dan is saying that can be waived if you call then that is something else.  Can someone confirm that is what Dan means but not sure why you backed down from the official United policy

Getting back to this point - So what is the way to get them to waive the fee for changing the airline?
