You always have 24 hours to cancel, even you don't have the club card. And yes you will get back everything.
What happenes after 24 hrs? $200 per ticket?

If I book a one way award with a sub 24 hr stop and then change the second flight to leave after 24 hrs will I be charged extra miles or will they just charge a changing fee?

Both I believe. They will only make the change by changing your ticket to 2 separate tickets, as the system will not let a stopover of more than 24 hours

I called and they said that it couldn't be refunded. Not really much of an issue because i plan on taking this flight at some point during the year, so i won't be paying anything then. Though they did charge me a close in fee for both tickets which if i booked later on when i want to fly, i would probably have the United Club card by then.

So did you cancel or not? if you did, how do you plan on using it later on?

Also, you know DROPR, just HUCA, its the most simple rule, if you cancel within 24 hours, you get everything back.

It is under my cancelled trips on United.com

If you have a cancelled ticket, you can fly the same route up to a year from cancelling at the award rate you initially booked.

I believe Dan had posted this on DD.com when discussing the upcoming United devaluation.

Are you sure, so if I find availability tomorrow NYC-TLV and I bbook and cancel, can I change it afterwards to any date?

I'm assuming you can only rebook it if there's availability at the same rate (i.e. If you originally booked saver there would have to be saver award availability on the flight you want to rebook on)?

Anyone in good spirits in honor of the new year care to share a link to a discussion, or your own advice on a united one-way stopover workaround? I have searched the forums for quite some time now but to no avail :'(.

Seems like you have to click on the change ticket button, not refund my miles

Would the miles be refunded in the meantime? Or is this only for those who are 100% sure they are traveling?

You can. It may be very tough to find availability.

It's just crazy what's going on lately with UA not opening saver awards the last minute on the NYC - TLV route. For example today on the UA84 flight, there is plenty empty business class seats, and nothing open for saver award.

United unfriendly.

Yep. Used to be almost a lock to get a business seat if you waited to day of flight. Now, it barely happens anymore.
