UPDATE: United has extended the devaluation until February 3. 2014 so you have this weekend to book award trips! Straight from a Unites representative “Booking an award where the mileage amount should have been reduced on February 1? If you book one of these awards on February 1 or 2, we will honor the reduced mileage amount. Although initial ticketing will be at the current, higher level, we will retroactively re-price your award to the lower mileage amount within 10 business days.”

If you are up to date in the travel, points, and miles world than you are already well aware that starting tomorrow, February 1, 2014 it will cost a significant more to redeem your United miles for international flights. For those that only redeem United miles for domestic flights, you are not affected, do not worry (keep in mind though, Hawaii is impacted)! But those that typically save up their miles for international flights, especially partner airlines, I suggest booking your flights today!

I hope to eventually change those tickets for days unavailable now and change the airline if they will let without paying more miles

I booked a a ticket on UA.com (revenue) The return was in Y class and i have screen shots showing i am in Y class. I called up last week to upgrade and she said 25k each ticket. I called today and they changed the fare to W class which is 35k+550 a ticket!

She wont chanfge it back. anything i can do?

If a united tick from ewr to tlv in business class one way is 150k points how much is that going to be once the higher rates go into effect ?
160k or 170k ?
I'm understanding 170k but someone else just told me 160?

no - not for the mainland 48 states of the USA, Alaska, and Canada

If I reserve now a one way business NYC-TLV for 60k with 2 stops in Europe as I can't find availbilty with one stop, will they let me change it to a one stop flight if it opens up? Will they charge me more?

Correct.

Nothing is guaranteed to be the old chart unless it's a simple date change.
