Ok I'm seriously
Either the supervisor I spoke to at United has no idea what she's talking about, or I have been misunderstanding the United fee chart this whole time.
A bit of background: DH and I have a free one-way (JFK-HNL) on Feb 23rd from our trip to Europe last summer. I recently committed to running a half marathon in Disney on the same day. We've been waiting for business award availability to open up for months to switch the date but have seen nothing.
Given that today was 21 days from the flight we thought it was the last opportunity to change the flight before the fee switched from $75 to $100. Our goal was to try to get the fee waived (nope) or to try plan B for the less than ideal date of Sept 3rd (also nope since the sup noticed that it was more than 1 year since the date of booking). When I pressed her about what I was supposed to do since there was no availability she told me to keep waiting and maybe something will open up. I pointed out the fee increase after the 21 days we played some verbal chess until she straight out told me that the increase is based on the target date NOT the previous departure date.
Have I been so very wrong or can a sup seriously be this mistaken?
