Since when does the Club card give expanded biz/first availability?

I have to make 4 tickets to NY for my family from LA but we need to fly together.
I have the points to do 2 free flights though my United MileagePlus card, and another 1 through my starwoods. is there any way to make sure i can get the same flight, and that i can by a 4th seat online, and have them all be on the same flight, or is it all luck of the draw? Can i transfer my Amex points to United...? Or vice versa?

Amex doesn't transfer to UA. SPG would take a HUGE haircut transfering to UA.

When are the flights? Do you see if there's lots of seats still available?

on paid tickets there's still lots of open seats. They're actually $308 on Kayak.com

If you are concerned about the paid ticket that shouldn't be an issue as there seems to be lots of open seats. Award seats are more limited and can get snatched up so depends how soon you book them.

so i should book my award flights and then once all of them are on the same flight book the paid one?
Does united allow changes to the flights within 24hrs like delta does so that i can book the paid one and then if its not on the same flight i can change it

You can check BEFORE booking which flight you want on the award tickets and see if that will work with the paid and vice-ve rca.

and is it really not worth it to transfer my SPG points to United? How bad is it?

IIRC it was 2:1. Not worth burning SPG points like that.

No answer to your question, but UR (chase) transfers to united 1:1.
