TLV - Newark had 2 flights canceled btwn yesterday and today caused a lot of problems. Anyone else have this issue. Were you able to find alternative?

That would explain why there is almost nothing available tonight in economy on UA, US, or El Al.

Why were they cancelled?

Something that the connecting flight was delayed. I even got a confirmed seat on a flight that was leaving earlier and he would be going economy. He pleaded with them to let him on and they said no. I called united and they could not believe that a passenger with a confirmed seat was not given the seat. She tried calling Israel United and they would not answer the phone.

Anyone know how to get around the $75 close-in booking fee? Or, are there any other points that i could use to book a united one-way award without paying a close-in fee? Flight tomorrow morning, need to know asap please!!! Tks so much.

trying to book iah-fra-bkk-mel (around the world due to date line) but only want to pay 40k UA like it would be if i flew direct lax-mel. their saying its costing 57k (or 57.5k) because the 40k doesn't include passing south asia or something. basically their adding 17500k for the bkk-mel flight. how do i get it for 40k?

My carry on is 14 and 1/4 inches wide. United policy is 14. Will that quarter inch be a problem? Do they make everyone put their carry ons in the sizer?

The sizer is an extra inch in all directions.

I have been playing around with taking advantage of the stop-over rule with booking UA awards. I am going to Sydney at the end of summer (BOS-SYD-BOS)... so far it seems like i can book BOS-SYD-BOS-SAN (with 80 day stop over in BOS before SAN flight) for 80k miles + $124  8) . I've been trying to get greedy and have the last segment be HNL or somewhere tropical, but it seems like the rules only allow for mainland domestic add on. Since the last segment is 'free' (same overall price as the normal RT), might as well take advantage.

I'm excited about using this trick i learned from reading dansdeals!

Add HNL for 15K more. Cheaper than the ordinary price.

Has anyone had any luck in having United let them pay the old difference in fare to switch from Business to First?

Haven't tried yet as First hasn't opened up yet. Just hoping for the best.

A completely different route? The flight is in June. The only day that may have availability in First is tonight or tomorrow. I'll check to see what happens then.

I have a Plan B booked for my wife and myself, scheduled to leave FCO on Friday.  There's no guarantee we get the seats, obviously, but right now it looks like there are 20+ seats still available in United Business/First.  Is there any way to request a kosher meal in advance of this flight, or is it impossible to do so since we don't yet have seats officially booked?

You're right, I don't actually know that there are 20+, but expertflyer shows 9+, and the seat map on United shows almost 30 still available, so...

Can someone please answer recent posts in the archive:
http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/40712

I have the same question on cancelling a pre-deval flight now and rebooking it this fall.  I have two one-ways for myself and my spouse (4 tickets roundtrip) and would like to rebook into 2 roundtrips and a stopover.  Wondering how to do that without redepositing the miles.  Thought about the paypal or DoNotTrackMe tricks to hold them and then calling in to book.
