Thanks. The flight is EWR-FLL (happy, Dav? ;) ) so it's 12.5K

Now to use MR, I would have to transfer to ANA? That's better (faster?) than to SQ?
Why wouldn't you transfer to BA? fewest miles

My question applies to both NY/NJ.
Only DL and LY fly direcly form TLV-JFK.

No direct EWR-FLL. Need those airports specifically and no stopover.

Its only a 20-25 min drive from MIA-FLL and depends when your going but the Tickets are cheap now wouldn't pay to transfer MR to use points.

Not cheap from EWR. The travelers are picking up a cruise at FLL and going with kids. They feel it will be much easier by going to FLL.

What are you valuing MR at? I would think 1.45 which would come out to $181 for the 12.5K.

Huh? It's cheaper to use 12.5K than to pay $277...

I'm looking to book a one way, non-stop from TLV to JFK for 45k. Can I expect one to open up in the future if it hasn't in the past month or two?
I mean bookable on United.com.
The only non-stop flight from TLV to the NY area bookable by United is the United flight TLV-EWR mentioned above.

Availability is found in the website and, in my experience, not very good recently.

Also, it would cost 42.5k for that flight, not 45k.

Do you only have United miles to spend on this?

Delta has pretty good availablility lately. bookable one way with 25k MR.

Ooo I forgot that was RT. But I still got ya - that only works if you take the early AM flight out of FLL. The price jumps $400 when you pick one of the afternoon flight (which they need). So, it would be cheaper if they just paid for the OW UA, but here's the problem. They very much want to use points and go for "free" than to pay with cash, even if the points were worth more than the cash. Additionally, they love using MR directly to buy flights instead of transferring since it gives them 20% back and 20% of that 20% etc etc. I was asking here about transferring in the hopes of convincing them to transfer if the dollars made sense. Looks like they will just use the MR to book directly, in the end though.

Just sell the MR and pay for the Ticket, and if they will feel that they are paying for it, PM me and I could give you a friend and travel agent who will take the MR and Book a regular Ticket for them, so they wont feel that it cost them money.

Well I'll run these ideas by them.

This is what I did: I am flying to from EWR-TLV in Feb Iyh and I wanted to fly J but of course to book a direct flights with United with points is extremely difficult to find and most stopovers from the stop till TLV is not really J, but the cost is 170K RT so transferring UR is a Value of 2,100 and the charges is about $100 so thats a value of 2,200 if I would find, so I sold the points got a United card with a 50k sign up bonus. Now the ticket is $3,100 but I was credit $50 from united and I get 50K plus 6K plus around 11K for using card to pay for the ticket and thats a value of $800 so thats why I sold the points to purchase a J class ticket.
