Matmid points or voucher
« on: May 29, 2014, 09:14:46 AM »
I recently filed a complaint about a flight I took with ELAL, this is what they responded:

"I have sent you a link to register for free to our frequent flyer club. Once you register, we will give you the points from last year retroactively and an additional 100 points;

or the second option is a $100 MCO voucher towards a future flight on El Al"

I'm not really sure what "points from last year retroactively" means?

I see that some one-way flights are 700 points, and I read that "Zone E, encompassing the U.S. (except Los Angeles), Canada, and Asia, earns 50-500 points"....thats a pretty big range. If I will earn 500 points from my recent flight + 100 that basically means I'll be getting a free flight....???

Points retroactively means u get credited the FF points for a flight u already took.

I think so. Because if for some twisted reason u needed to buy an El Al flight at least u could credit miles to AA which is more lucrative IMHO.

I am asking the agent how many points I would get from the previous flight.

If, lets say, I get 350 + 100 bonus points. the selling rate is at least .5 so let just say 450 points x .5 = $225

unless I'm missing something...isnt that better value? because i could *technically* sell them (not here ofc)

Classic El Al move. You are entitled to the points from your flight regardless.

Take a $100 voucher over 100 Matmid points any day

i dont understand something. if u can get 1600 points for $800 or less, isnt that just a cheaper way of getting an elal flights? why isnt that more popular?
