What are you doing with your HawaiianMiles
« on: March 22, 2013, 10:30:08 AM »
I recently received 75k HawaiianMiles. The question is now, what to do with them?

1)Transfer to Hilton (Recent Hilton devaluation)

2)Find a saver award tix to HNL for 2 (Rather go UA biz)

3)Redeem on partner airline (Didn't see any that made sense)

4)Redeem for Gift Certificate (Horrible value of .5cpm, besides horrible options)

Anyone else have ideas?

with the worthless program and  10 HH points worth only about 1 cent. you are lucky if you can redeem  one night at the Hampton Inn with your 60k points

Because of this I didn't apply for cards with Hawaiian miles.
Airlines sending me "We're in this together" emails.

Bruh, where were you when my suitcase weighed it 51.50 pounds?

I'll tell you the truth, the new HH chart is decent if you use C&P.
Not nearly as good as before, but it makes their aspirational properties affordable from both a cash and points perspective.
For example, at the Conrad Maldives, the points have a value of at least .8 cpm or so (depending on season) when you use C&P.

I just used C&P and got a 1cpp value.

I just used and got a value of around .9, so not too terrible.

Why not use the miles to fly to Hawaii?  Hawaiian flies direct to Honolulu from JFK and the redemption rate is approximately 40k miles pp round trip in couch.  Also, they have great reward availability, much better than AA, United and US Airways.

1) I want to fly to Hawaii in a premium cabin(lie flat) which Hawaiian does not have to offer.

2) You could find Saver availability for 35k RT.

3)True, they have decent availability, but back to #1

Good luck finding saver availability for 35k.  Also, you definitely won't get a direct JFK - Honolulu flight for 35k.  As for lie flat, I am not sure who offers that.  I last flew first class on US Airways from Hawaii to NYC and it sucked.
