Friend visited for kfwe, aloft in Aventura had good rates.

Was cheaper on Agoda which is fine because I got the Marriott chase spend and stay points although The best rate guaranteevis b

I did not save exact screenshots :(

With Agoda it was $121 a night includes taxes, Marriott was $119 a night after taxes .

On Friday we decided to stay Shabbat, Marriott said nothing available, lies, there were rooms on their site. Well, they said.. it's a higher rate.. indeed, so the cheapest we found was $161 on hotel.com

I'm really annoyed but it's Marriott, worse I didn't get chase card. Spend.

Do I have any recourse here
Which card did you use to book?

Chase Marriott, btw I meant on Marriott site was 119 before taxes.

I'm pissed because they claim they have the best rate guarantee, But since it was a better read on hotels.com I didn't get the six points for a dollar MarriottChase card spent

i booked st regis bal harbour on points. All they had on points was a king room. How do i get a guaranteed upgrade now to 2 queens. I am willing to pay or use additional points.  the difference in paid rate between king and queen room is only $60 a night. Both Mariott and the hotel are saying the only thing i can do is cancel the points booking and book the paid rate which is almost $1500 a night. Any other way to get the upgrade now.

I had a similar situation and neither Marriott or the front desk were able to help me. I left my point booking and did a cash reservation as well. I checked daily and whenever the rate went down I booked and cancelled the old reservation. -(My particular hotel tended to be cheaper towards the end of the week). In the end I paid about $260 (for a room that was originally over $500) so I cancelled the points booking for a standard room and went with the cash option for the premium room I had wanted. I don't know how much time you have or if the room you want will go down in price substantially enough. You're only alternative would be to keep your point booking and when you check in, ask for a queen room instead. You can book a queen room and cancel so that it is held available until at least 48 hrs  prior to your arrival, however there is no guarantee that it will still be available. I guess it all depends on how badly you need the queen room.

Is it an issue to make a points reservation for someone else?
I know you can transfer points but how long does it take?

Should not be. Been spoken about somewhere on DDF.

i would just note that since all types of idiots are trying to come up with "the reason" why we are facing this pandemic, i'm an idiot too, and i am sure (it is baduk umenusa, trust me) that its not because of bad things we have done (duh, it can never be the person who proclaims the reason), but its a reckoning on the farshtunkeneh middoys of Marriott's Bonvoyed behavior to shnucks like me, and perhaps also to airlines' switch to dollar based mile values. its mamesh pashut  ;).

If I downgrade my card after first year to avoid yearly fee, do I get to keep my anniversary certificate?

If you got it, you keep it.

Status/certificate question.
My spouse has Silver status and a 35K certificate in her Marriott account. I have Gold status. If she books a room with the certificate and we both stay, is it possible for us to receive my higher level benefits during the stay?

Is there a way to get them to switch credit cards after charged?

Booked room online with my credit card that has all the offers, upon checkin person gave their card (no offers) and told them to bill credit card on file (that was used to book room and on account) sure enough they charged their card. Front desk states they can't do anything...any way to get Marriott to switch cards?
