Delta Delayed Luggage Compensation?

flew into LA last night from JFK on a direct DL flight. 2 Pieces of luggage got delayed and will be probably delivered today.

just wondering what kind of compensation does Delta offer for the inconvenience and how should i claim it?

You should have asked before you left the Airport. Always the best thing to do IME. Call Delta.

You can also contact your credit card that you used and see what sort of compensation they can offer you.

Ha i liked the acronym, and i know i should have gotten compensation at the airport,  but it was about midnight when we flew in, and had family waiting, so didn't want to delay everyone and start arguing with their baggage service.

i know i can file a complaint  online, but is there a number that  i can call and speak to someone?

You can always call reservations and see where they can transfer you to.

well, i went the online complaint route, and they basically sent me 2 x $25 credits. this doesn't seem as a proper compensation at all. trying to decide whether i should decline it and tell them that its not appropriate for missing a whole day of our trip because we were waiting for our luggage to arrive.

Usually the rules are in favor of the airlines, they have the big pockets to pay lobbyist.

ive had trouble with Delta in other areas, and s/o gave me the Corporate # 404-773-0305. if you press 2 and then 7 you get a live person, but listen to the other options.......Hatzlacha!

i had a car seat delay with them when i arrived in israel. sent them my receipt that i had to buy a new one (did it all online) and received a check from them for the full amount. I got the car seat 2 days later and sold one I find that its best to ust send in receipts and say i needed to purchase XYZ while i didnt have my delayed luggage. And usually if they dont compensate me (i never had that yet) than i can always return. Another time i had delayed luggage with delta when i flew to america from israel and it took 4 days to get the luggage- and then i had to fight with them. but i walked away with 900$

If you have receipts you can make a claim or sending a letter will get you some money or skymiles.

yes, having receipts of purchases would be ideal, but alas, this is the first time my luggage was ever delayed, so i guess lesson learned for next time.

thanks  for all the comments, will see if i can get anything else our of them, tho i'm doubtful.
