I was trying to be sarcastic online. My mistake. I was making a point that come pesach people buy food as if they are coming off a fast. Just walk in to any grocery and you'll see shelves upon shelves loaded with all sorts of chazerei that didn't exist 5 years ago. There is cereal (yuck, btw), cookies, cakes, chips, ices/ice cream, frozen 'pizza', tons of dairy products, etc... People spend at least $1000 on Yom Tov food not including fish or meat. I think it's way way out of hand.

The Gemara mentions that in EY they imported fruit beer from bavel since they couldn't have regular beer on pesach.

Just sayin'.

As a yekki we actually are makpid to eat gebrochs on pesach and yes there is a lot to miss out on pesach if you don't eat gebrochs such as matza bry with wine cream (matza glezz and vine crem) and matza balls and many more stuff I dont think I would be able to handle a pesach without it.
