Merging AA accounts

It seems from many posts in many threads that it is possible to do so. My question is, if you have already used some of the miles, when merging, will the " Program to Date Miles" also combine or only the "Total Available Award Mileage"?
Obviously I'm talking in case where the names match.

not with AA last time I checked

I was told:"its possible to change your first name online on AA, so if your wife has the same last name as you, I believe you should be good"

Again, so I was told.

Ps: I don't know of any of any other program that allows changing first names.

(If this works seamless, the possibilities are endless, but not to be written on DD...)

Ye, you can hunt down SuperDuperFlyer and get all his AA miles.
