baggage question mia-jfk-tlv
« on: March 29, 2013, 01:50:10 AM »
Suppose you want to fly from jfk to tlv, but its cheaper to start the flight in miami or chicago for example. So you buy a one-way to miami, and then go mia-jfk-tlv. Of course you cant miss the mia-jfk flight because you dont want the ticket to cancel.

My question is, do you have to pay to fly your luggage down to miami, and then check it in, at miami, or can you leave it in jfk (somewhere,or nearby), and fly to miami, and then when you start your trip in miami, you fly the first segment without bags, and once you arrive in jfk, you go check your bags?

im not saying this from experience, but unless they keep track, you have to recheck in anyway in JFK so would they know that you didnt have any luggage before? just thinking.

Your luggage gets checked through to the destination automatically  (at least in the scenario provided).
In other words: The luggage that he would've checked in MIA, doesn't get off the plane in Jfk. . .

Is this the case? i thought i saw that in jfk (and lga) all luggage must be checked in again if youre connecting.
Or is it just the return?
