please post anything that activated this $300 credit for things besides flights, hotels, and car rentals (booked through Capital One travel portal).

Could you book a non-refundable flight and then cancel after 24 hours and basically get airline credit for the canceled flight taking advantage of airlines no longer charging change fees?

can i book a fully refundable flight (for like 2 months away) through the portal, receive the airline credit from capital one, and then cancel the fully refundable ticket? would that work? would capital one then take back the 300$ credit?

It isn't available on all flights, but if you click on the flight in the search, you can see other fare options - including one that says Fully Refundable.

Just a data point that might interest people here:

Booked a OW Spirit flight on the portal for my family, total was ~$267. Same flight was available on Spirit.com that day for $204 total and Cap1 has a price guarantee, so we called and got credited the ~$63 difference. But today we got our travel credit for $267, not $204. So if you find a price guarantee situation, you can sort of double dip a litte.

That's not a double dip. You've used $267/300 credit, not $204.

Yeah, that wasn't the best phrasing (I did write 'sort of'). The point was that they could easily say you only actually spent $204 with us, so you only get $204 credit. Instead I got to trigger $267 of the credit on a $204 booking. I still have to make another booking to trigger the remaining $33 of credit, but if it had been a little more to start with I'd have been done with the credit already.
