points can be used for the AF.

Statement credits: If you have the exact number of points or more required to wipe away a charge, you can wipe away the entire charge.  If you have fewer than the exact number of points, you can only redeem in 2500 point/$25 increments.

Example: If you have an $87 charge, and 9000 points, you can wipe away the entire $87 charge.  If, however, you only have 8000 points, you can only wipe away $75 worth of the $87 charge (2500 point/$25 increments x 3).

But orbitz only allows you to cancel till 11 PM the next day. What happens if it didn't post by then ?
1. Use SW.
2. Orbitz allows you to cancel non-refundable stuff until said time, but you could buy something that's genuinely refundable.

How about downgrading to the no fee version. Would I have issues getting the sign up bonus upon reapplying for the arrival +?

Dont think so. When I spoke to Barclays about downgrading my US Air to an Arrival (which I ended up doing) I asked specifically if I can have the Arrival and the Arrival+ at the same time including both bonus offers. He was clear and said yes and that that is no problem at all.

Could points be transferred to the no-fee card ?

If you are referring to transferring Arrival+ "points" to the Arrival account to merge the 2, that is NOT possible according to the rep I spoke to.

Do you say that when I downgrade from US Airways to Arrival, I'll get the 20,000 bonus miles, even though it's a downgrade?

Thanks for the info.  I assume i cannot double dip with arrival+, i.e. apply and get another bonus while still having the card open.

Can I redeem the miles from the no fee card the same way?
Can I still ask to downgrade and get the refund like 30 days after it posts (and paid)?

If I use my arrival to redeem for travel and then the travel is cancelled and the charges credited, what happens to my credit that occured as a result of my redemption.  Is the credit charged back and the points put back?

no
hence
Buy a refundable southwest ticket, cancel immediately, wait for it to post (usually takes me 5 days) and redeem.
(IINM, you can only redeem in increments of 2,500 points, so you'll have 1K orphaned)
