points can be used for the AF.

Statement credits: If you have the exact number of points or more required to wipe away a charge, you can wipe away the entire charge.  If you have fewer than the exact number of points, you can only redeem in 2500 point/$25 increments.

Example: If you have an $87 charge, and 9000 points, you can wipe away the entire $87 charge.  If, however, you only have 8000 points, you can only wipe away $75 worth of the $87 charge (2500 point/$25 increments x 3).

I thought they were very firm about that but you can do smaller amounts too. For example, a $37 cab fare would be 3700 points. Or, you could redeem 2500 against it for a $25 credit on your statement. And...A+ posts as purchase for serve loads....
I remember seeing random options for the full payment I think, I'll have to report back as soon as I get more points in my acccount

For full amounts, yes
However, I was wrong about it always being $25 increments.
Example 1, example 2.

Yes, if your redeeming the for the full amount of the charge it can be done with any amount above 2500. If not redeeming the full charge it can only be done in increments of 2500.

I'm about to downgrade by Arrival, as my annual fee has already been charged. The annual fee shows up under travel redemption options. Can I use my point balance as a credit for the annual fee, and then have the whole fee cancelled? or will the credit through the points then be cancelled?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

U don't have to redeem for the full amount. You are making a mistake.

If you don't redeem the full amount it must be in increments of 2500

To what?
I'm pretty sure that if you use points to pay the AF and then downgrade, you'll get a statement credit for the AF.
