points can be used for the AF.

Statement credits: If you have the exact number of points or more required to wipe away a charge, you can wipe away the entire charge.  If you have fewer than the exact number of points, you can only redeem in 2500 point/$25 increments.

Example: If you have an $87 charge, and 9000 points, you can wipe away the entire $87 charge.  If, however, you only have 8000 points, you can only wipe away $75 worth of the $87 charge (2500 point/$25 increments x 3).

I don't have this card but my brain is telling me that you can book a $200 room or whatever and use your available points, in whatever increments they allow redemptions, to pay for part of it, and the rest in cash. Then cancel if it "doesn't work out".
+1
I have the card

For my 6288 A+ miles, I can  redeem for some refundable room for $62.88 and for wife's 7228 miles, I can redeem for $72.28? Bit confused!

If I book a room for those miles ,  it has to be $62.88 and $72.28 before tax and fees?

I just want to try to redeem  whatever miles I have now before I cancel this card and shred it.

Have to try to find some cheap refundable super 8 motel  I guess.

This is right, but note that when you're doing partial redemptions, you CANNOT use all of your remaining points, but can only redeem in $25 increments.  In your example, with 6288 points, on a $200 room, you'll only be able to redeem 5,000 points, or $50 worth.  If, however, your room cost $62.88 , you could redeem all 6288 points (and leave your account with the remaining redemption bonus points).

Try to book one that exactly costs $62.88 to redeem my entire 6288 miles? What If my room rate before tax is $70? I can only redeem 5k?

Current experience with my own card.  I have about 6,000 miles left, I have a few eligible transactions for over $60, and I'm only given the choice of redeeming 2,500 for $25 or 5,000 for $50 (not the full 6,000 for 60).

Correct (based on my experience twice over the past week -- if others have had a different experience, they should chime in).  If you can spend another $606 on the card, you'll hit 7500 points and can then squeeze out $75 exactly -- so either that, or lose the $12.88 worth of points and redeem now for $50.

They offered me a statement credit for half of the fee a few months ago.

Their reasoning is that there are so many benefits etc
What's the churn-ability of this?

If you downgrade to the regular no fee Arrival do you get to keep your points? Also how long after the fee posts do you have to get the fee fully credited? Is it the usual 60 days?
