points can be used for the AF.

Statement credits: If you have the exact number of points or more required to wipe away a charge, you can wipe away the entire charge.  If you have fewer than the exact number of points, you can only redeem in 2500 point/$25 increments.

Example: If you have an $87 charge, and 9000 points, you can wipe away the entire $87 charge.  If, however, you only have 8000 points, you can only wipe away $75 worth of the $87 charge (2500 point/$25 increments x 3).

Not sure how recent it is but they are now giving 50k signup bonus.

How I get the bonus if I had the card in the past? How long do I have to wait?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

thanks
Might be worth spending another 500 & getting 1000 points. That way you could redeem the full amount.

In case this helps anyone: points you have divided by 98 = max price of southwest flight you should buy and cancel.

It's not hard to just hit "refundable"

Why would you do SW?
I think people are doing SW because of DDMS,

"If you want to convert your points into cash you could just book a refundable ticket like a Southwest Anytime airfare, select to redeem points to give you a check equal to that purchase, and then just refund the Southwest ticket.  All of your points can be redeemed for 2.11% back that way."
