points can be used for the AF.

Statement credits: If you have the exact number of points or more required to wipe away a charge, you can wipe away the entire charge.  If you have fewer than the exact number of points, you can only redeem in 2500 point/$25 increments.

Example: If you have an $87 charge, and 9000 points, you can wipe away the entire $87 charge.  If, however, you only have 8000 points, you can only wipe away $75 worth of the $87 charge (2500 point/$25 increments x 3).

Same here.
I'm not sure what they are hoping to gain by refusing to downgrade.
Do they really think anyone will pay the annual fee on this useless card rather than close it?
Useless??? It’s the only card I actually pay the annual fee year over year. Please explain how you can do better than 2% cash back? Albeit having 12 cards in your wallet.

A 2% cash back card with a $0 AF, and hassle free redemption?

The annual fee and pretty much any travel

Haven't redeemed in a while. does the statement maybe first need to close before redeeming?

The AF is only 8900 points - .11% that you get back
How many other cards give you 2.11% back with no foreign transaction fees?

About the FX fee your right, i did not take that into account so if someone does needs that, this card is great.

about the 5% rebate, you have to spend around 90k to break even, Meh. (And if you are just a tiny bit savvy, the citi bifecta puts this 2.11% cash back CC to shame with just 2 cards in your wallet.)

And the minimum redemption is 10k points (besides for redeeming towards your AF) only good for travel, that is not a hassle free redemption program.

But your are absolutely right, for certain people in certain situations this card can make sense .

Under $100 you need to call to redeem
There is plenty of ways to have travel without actually traveling

Like they say on DDF "We Don't Spoonfeed"!!

did it code as travel? If yes then you can redeem, the only thing is that under $100 you’ll have to call in to redeem

To be exact I think it's 2.105%.

You spend $10,000
You receive 20,000 points.
You redeem 20,000 points for a $200 statement credit.
You get back 1,000 points.
You redeem for a $10 Statement credit you get back 0.50

So you spent $10,000 and gotten back $210.50 = 2.105 return

AOC Federal Credit Union - 3% no FX, no AF, no minimum redemption.  Not geolocked, but not a "simple" app.
