I tried to sign up for the M&M card some months ago while having the US Airways card. denied. Read this wiki, closed that card, waited a week and signed up. Approved instantly. Thanks Y'all.

I know that churning on this specific card have already been discussed. But whats the story with annual fees? Any reccomendations? Close/transfer/downgrade?

If I want to cancel before the AF hits, can I apply for the 20k fee-free card and then transfer the points to that?

Better yet, can I just apply for the same card again for 40k points and cancel the old one? Has anyone tried this yet with this card?

I think it has to be a minimum of a $25 purchase in order to redeem for points. It is for this reason that I have been doing this with 2 transactions to make sure that after getting the 10% back for the first ine, my balance is still over 2500 points and I can then do another one to redeem those points.

One of the best travel credit cards currently on the market is the Barlcaycard Arrival. Back in April, Barclaycard upped its sign-up bonus to 40,000 miles when you spend $1,000 in the first 90 days, but my contacts at Barclaycard have confirmed that the minimum spending requirement is going to increase to $3,000 within 90 days very soon (exact date TBD), so if you’ve been thinking about applying for this card, now might be the best time to get in on the offer. I'm finishing up with them on the phone now. He's reading the required disclosures, blah blah.

The guy had NO idea about the $3,000/90 day deal, he was only aware of the $1,000/90 day spend requirement. I confirmed multiple times - this is the annual fee card, with 40,000 bonus points, annual fee waived the first year, etc. etc. He was quite confused, and ask me where I'd seen anything other than $1,000/90 days. I calmed him down and proceeded to apply for the card.

At the end, he again confirmed strongly that it is $1,000/90 days for 40,000 points (he called them "miles" - I didn't bother to correct him).

I was approved, decent CL.

He strongly recommends that I travel to Manilla, Philippines, and that I'll love it.

So, it seems to work if you call up, at least for now.

Very true. Though for all the people that did not heed the warnings and still want the card, it can still be done through applying over the phone.
